As a friend of mine always says, "It’s hard to go a whole day without learning something". Well, let me add that when you see somone or some company that has a Plan that you can adopt for your own uses, I say, "Do it!" So it is, I viewed the June 18, 2009 Building Operating Management , Building Maximizer Newsletter with great interest.
It lists "Five Strategies to Achieve LEED-EB Status." They write, "When developing a holistic sustainability plan, facility executives should consider strategies in five areas: Energy, Water, Materials and Purchasing, Waste, and Indoor Environmental Quality".
Hmmm. Look at those 5 topics again. Now, what if you addressed these 5 from your Interiorplantscape point of view? How and where do you fit? Energy? Tell the client how you schedule Maintenance frequency to save on Energy, lower fuel use etc. Water? Show how you use technical expertise and products like subirriation, Joeys, Sippers and so on to cut down water usage. Materials? How about containers that can be recycled or have some recycled material in them or, for Artificial Product, are made from recycled material.
In fact, every product and service we offer can fit into one of these Strategies to help your Facility Managers meet LEED-EB criteria. You have to just show and tell them. Yep, let’s learn what our clients are doing and fit their needs.
Now, go out there and get em Tigers.
