Helping Plantscapers succeed.

Let’s Take A Page From Their Book

As a friend of mine always says, "It’s hard to go a whole day without learning something".  Well, let me add that when you see somone or some company that has a Plan that you can adopt for your own uses, I say, "Do it!"  So it is, I viewed the June 18, 2009 Building Operating Management , Building Maximizer Newsletter with great interest.

It lists "Five Strategies to Achieve LEED-EB Status."  They write,  "When developing a holistic sustainability plan, facility executives should consider strategies in five areas: Energy, Water, Materials and Purchasing, Waste, and Indoor Environmental Quality".

Hmmm.  Look at those 5 topics again.  Now, what if you addressed these 5 from your Interiorplantscape point of view?  How and where do you fit?  Energy? Tell the client how you schedule Maintenance frequency to save on Energy, lower fuel use etc.  Water?  Show how you use technical expertise and products like subirriation, Joeys, Sippers and so on to cut down water usage.  Materials?  How about containers that can be recycled or have some recycled material in them or, for Artificial Product, are made from recycled material.

In fact, every product and service we offer can fit into one of these Strategies to help your Facility Managers meet LEED-EB criteria.  You have to just show and tell them.  Yep, let’s learn what our clients are doing and fit their needs.

Now, go out there and get em Tigers.

Groups on LinkedIn

Heads Up all of you on LinkedIn.  There are 5 Groups for Interiorscapers listed on LinkedIn.  Just go to Groups and Search and use the keyword "Interior Plants".  Finally.  Guess it just took us a while to figure out we could start our own groups.  I suggest that instead of "selling" on this site, you make it of interest to non plantscapers.  Include posts about how plants benefit, interesting jobs, challenges and so on.  Now, go get ‘em Tigers.

My next Inner Circle Newsletter is all about the LinkedIn, Facebook,Twitter phenomenon.  Social Media is the Future but it takes time and exploration to use it effectively.  Friend and Industry Media guru, MJ Gilhooley is developing a CD/Manual on the subject:"The Interiorscapers Guide to GROW" ( Generate Revenue On the Web).  This turn key, "how to" for the wise interiorscaper, shows how to employ a professional, industry specific and results-driven social media digital marketing campaign, rich with inside tips, tricks and best practises usually reserved for highly paid media consultants.

Write to GROW@gilhooleyconsulting.com for more information.  Kit will be available June 30th and the first 30 companies to place an order will receive a free registration with a pay-only subscription to a key social media resource typically accessed only by professional marketers.

So, in this Brave, New World, print advertising, yellow page ads, and the slow, slow cold calls are the future dinosaurs.  Stake your Social Media claim…Now.
